A Meridian Native and Experienced Gum Specialist

Dr. J. Eric Herrington was born and raised in Meridian, Mississippi. A graduate of West Lauderdale High School, he has a deep connection to the community he serves. His journey to becoming a leading Meridian periodontist began at Millsaps College, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude.

He earned his Doctoral Degree in Dental Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry, graduating with the highest honors and a new record for academic GPA. It was during this time that he developed a passion for periodontics, participating in research on periodontitis treatment and its connection to cardiovascular health.

Following dental school, Dr. Herrington completed a rigorous post-doctoral residency in Periodontology at UAB. His specialty training provided him with extensive education in managing all stages of gum disease, performing cosmetic procedures for issues like receding gums, and mastering dental implant placement.

In 2005, Dr. Herrington achieved the distinguished status of Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. This accomplishment makes him the only board-certified periodontist in the Meridian area, a testament to his expertise and commitment to providing the highest standard of care.

The scope of his practice is specialized, focusing on procedures defined by the American Academy of Periodontology. This includes gum disease treatment, periodontal plastic procedures (like soft tissue grafts), and all aspects of implant therapy, including the necessary dental bone graft and augmenting procedures.
