Roughly one in three adults avoids the dentist because of fear or anxiety. The result is bigger problems and bigger procedures down the line. Sedation dentistry takes the fear out of the equation so you can finally get the care you need.
Two safe options we offer
- Oral conscious sedation — a prescription pill taken before your appointment that leaves you drowsy and calm but still responsive
- IV (intravenous) sedation — medication delivered through a vein for deeper relaxation, often with little memory of the procedure
How sedation feels
You stay awake and breathing on your own. Time seems to pass quickly, sounds are muffled, and the body relaxes. Many patients say their procedure "felt like a long nap."
Is it safe?
Sedation has an outstanding safety record when delivered by a trained team. We use full vital-sign monitoring, screen your medical history carefully, and adjust the dose precisely to your needs.
What you need to do
- Arrange a driver—you should not operate a car for the rest of the day
- Wear comfortable, loose clothing
- Follow eating and drinking instructions before your appointment
- Plan a quiet evening at home with a light meal
Procedures most often paired with sedation
Sedation makes a big difference for implant placement, pocket reduction surgery, multiple extractions, and any longer treatment session. We are happy to combine procedures so you get more done in one visit.
